Beetham Tower, Birmingham

Cladding panels on the Beetham Tower development became dislodged from the structure due to high winds and fell to the ground. Roads around the development were closed and caused major disruption to traffic and local businesses.

The initial call for a rope access team was made around 2pm in the afternoon. Rope Task supplied a team of rope access technicians and were on site by 3.30pm the same day. Rope Task technicians overcame the obstacle of limited access to the effected elevations by utilising advanced rigging skills to allow a team to access the elevations via smoke vents on the 37th floor, which allowed them to secure lose cladding panels on the structure.

Working at heights of over 100 metres (330ft), Rope Task secured lose cladding and all roads and businesses were open within 48 hours, without the need for conventional access such as temporary cradles, MEWPS or tower cradles.
